Burgess honours legendary Donie

Burgess G.A.A. Club organised a tribute night on Friday night last in Reidy’s of Newtown to honour the achievements of Clubman Donie Nealon.

There was a capacity crowd in attendance for the surprise event which saw team-mates, opponents and colleagues of Donie Nealon gather together to reminisce about his exploits on the field with Tipperary, both as a player, winning 5 All Ireland medals, while also training Tipperary to 3 All Ireland titles, two of which were under Michael 'Babs' Keating who was in attendance.

Off the field, Donie was a very able administrator, also recounted by two former GAA Presidents, Christy Cooney and Sean Kelly MEP, who were in attendance, as well as stalwarts of Tipperary, Kilkenny, Limerick and Cork teams.
