Templederry's Tom Stapleton

Second half goals see Templederry past Holycross

Templederry Kenyons 2-14

Holycross/Ballycahill 0-15

Second half goals from Matthew Hogan and Eanna Murray helped Templederry progress past Holycross/Ballycahill in Kilcommon on Sunday and into the O Riain Cup semi-finals.

A strong breeze right down the middle of the field dictated the pattern of play and made for a match of two halves. Who managed the better against the breeze was going to determine the outcome and as it happened it was Templederry who came out on top having conceded just eight points against the breeze, but scoring 2-9 with the elements at their back

Holycross Ballycahill held a 0-8 to 0-5 interval advantage – Darragh Woods getting five of those from placed balls, while Aidan Stakelum, Stevie Flanagan and Woods had one apiece from play.

Templederry had three 65's pointed by Eanna Murray in the half, to go along with another from a free, while Padraig O'Leary had their solitary score from play.

The North lads were well in touch and it was the view of most spectators at the game that three points would not be enough of a lead for Holycross/Ballycahill.
