Kilruane looking for one big performance

28 years is a long time for Kilruane MacDonaghs to go without a North Tipperary Senior Hurling title and they will hope to end that wait on Sunday.

Despite that long gap to their last success in 1990, Kilruane are still second on the roll of honour (behind Toomevara) with 18 successes, many of which came when current manager Liam O'Shea was player in the seventies and early 80's when Kilruane was the home of the Frank McGrath Cup seven times in fifteen years.

In more recent times, Kiladangan has been its regular home, three times in the last five years, including a 2016 success over Kilruane MacDonaghs in their own backyard of Cloughjordan.

We didn't hit the heights that day,” remembered O'Shea who wasn't involved with the team that year but returned in 2017.

We were disappointing to be honest and never played to our potential but this is an opportunity, not for revenge, but an opportunity to have another right good crack at it but we know a super Kiladangan team are in front of us,” he said.
