Roscrea's quick start punishes sloppy Mullinahone

Roscrea 3-18

Mullinahone 0-19

Roscrea’s blistering start proved to be decisive as they got back in the hunt for the quarter finals with a deserved eight point success over Mullinahone in Templetuohy on Saturday evening.

Indeed the game could have been over as a contest as early as the third minute by which time Roscrea had no fewer than three gilt-edged goal chances. The first was converted inside thirty seconds as Fergus Hannon raced through to fire to the net.

From the puckout, they were back in again but this time Shane Fletchers effort few inches wide, while two minutes later Fletcher played in Evan Fitzpatrick with a measured pass but Mullinahone keeper Alan Walsh made a fine stop with a free-in ensuing with Conor Sheedy converted for his first of six points on the evening.

It wouldn’t be harsh in saying Mullinahone were a mess in the opening twenty minutes as their short puckouts put them in no end of trouble with Jack Shelly in particular difficulty with Roscrea’s pressing leading directly to points for Sheedy (2 frees), Geoff Ryan and Evan Fitzpatrick and with Darren O’Connor and goalkeeper Daryl Ryan also on the scoresheet, Roscrea led 1-9 to 0-3 after eighteen minutes.
