Tipp Ladies look maintain senior status

Having missed out on the knockout stages of the All Ireland Championship, Tipperary's ladies footballers will look to maintain their senior status when they take on Munster rivals Waterford this Saturday (3.00pm) in Callan, Co. Kilkenny.

Having only come up from intermediate level last year as All Ireland champions, it would be a big blow to Tipperary if they drop back immediately but hopes are high that if they re-produce the performances in the championship so far, they'll ensure their survival.

That might seem strange considering Tipperary lost all three of their championship games but they were to high calibre opposition in Cork in the Munster semi-final, before competing well in their All Ireland championship group where they fell to Kerry and Ulster champions Donegal.

Should Tipperary win on Saturday, it would ensure their survival at senior level, however if they were to fall to Waterford, who defeated them in the National League earlier this year, the Premier ladies will still have one final chance to save themselves against the loser of Cavan and Monaghan who meet in the other relegation semi-final this Saturday.

The loser of the second relegation playoff would then be relegated to the intermediate grade for 2019, replaced by the All Ireland intermediate champion.
