Taxi rank needed in Nenagh

Nenagh needs a taxi rank to help people get home after socialising in the town, Cllr Joe Hannigan (Ind) told the December meeting of Nenagh Municipal District.

Cllr Hannigan pointed out that taxi ranks have been introduced to meet the demand in many towns and said Nenagh should also have one. “There is a void to be addressed,” Cllr Hannigan said, adding that drink driving legislation introduced by a “certain minister” would lead to the closure of rural pubs in Tipperary.

Cllr Hughie McGrath (Ind) said the National Transport Authority is to attend a future meeting of Tipperary Joint Policing Committee. He agreed that there is need for discussion on the issue.
