Tipp woman's Winning Streak

A woman from Clonmel, who admitted that she was “struggling to get a wink of sleep” ahead of her appearance on Winning Streak, the National Lottery TV gameshow, won a cool €30,000 on the RTÉ One programme.

Peggy has barely slept a wink since Saturday such is the excitement at the prospect of going on the show of which she is a long-time fan. She says that she leapt ten foot out of her chair when her name was called out but Marty and Sinead the week before. She was ecstatic to have won the tidy sum of €30,000 on the show.

The reaction from her many friends and neighbours in Ardfinnan has been amazing and Peggy says that she has got 188 messages on Facebook alone from friends! She also got so many phone calls and texts. She wasn’t short of support in the audience on Saturday as she was joined by her five sisters (Maureen, Jo, Bee, Theresa and Esther) who cheered her on from the audience along with many more. Her only brother Gerry was watching from home. Peggy was to attend the wedding of a neighbour in Thurles last Saturday but could not attend because of her Winning Streak appearance but she made sure that she stopped by the wedding reception after the show on Saturday to wish the couple all the best!

With any winnings from the show, Peggy is going to upgrade her car, a ’03 Yaris and after that, she says, she will play it by ear. Despite being retired Peggy leads quite the busy life. In her spare time she is the chairperson of Ardfinnan Ladies GAA club, is treasurer of the Ardfinnan Lourdes Fund (which raises funds to send two people to the holy shrine every year) and is treasurer of Ardfinnan Tidy Towns.
