Gerry McNamara, 1977-2016

Nenagh gig in memory of local musician

The second annual remembrance gig for local musician Gerry McNamara (1977 - 2016) will take place at The Well Bar in Nenagh this Saturday night, September 29th.

Music acts from Nenagh and around the country will unite in what is becoming a very popular fundraiser for Milford Hospice. The night will be an opportunity to pay tribute to Gerry, who died in September 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Gerry, a drummer, played with a number of local bands and co-founded 'Nightmare Promotions' with his close friend Phil Brett. Aiming to extol heavy music in Nenagh, Nightmare Promotions brought several large and international touring bands to Nenagh for small, intimate gigs, as well as promoting the local scene.

This Saturday night's gig will feature live music upstairs and downstairs in The Well, including Phil's band Zylum, along with Dark Matter, Partholon, Platonic, Michelle O'Dwyer, The Well House Band, Zoe Alford and Johnny Mitchell.

There will be no charge but, instead, those in attendance are kindly asked to give a minimum donation of €5. All proceeds will go to Milford Hospice, which treated Gerry and his family so well during his final days.

Last year's remembrance gig for Gerry was a tremendous success, raising an incredible €1,550 for the hospice on a night of great music. The hope is that we can raise as much again if not more this time around.

So get down to The Well this Saturday and enjoy a great night in aid of a very good cause. Check out the Nightmare Promotions Facebook page for further details and updates.
