Health campaigner Vicky Phelan for Nenagh talk

Vicky Phelan, the woman who blew the lid off the cervical check scandal earlier this year, is to visit Nenagh next week to meet with local people and groups to discuss her story and why she is fighting for justice for the victims of the cervical check scandal. She will also outline why she believes that vaccinations are so important to help protect future generations from cancer.

Her story is truly remarkable as she took on the health service and the state to win her case while also refusing to give in to any confidentiality clauses in order to ensure her story could be told. As a result of this, many more women and families affected by the cervical check screening process failures have also been able to come forward.

She has fought to ensure that all the women affected and their families are now getting the supports they deserve and also that legal processes are being put in place to ensure women shouldn’t have to go through court cases in their fight for justice.

She is visiting the town at the invitation of Alan Kelly TD. She will be speaking in the Abbey Court Hotel at 7.30pm on Thursday September 13th.

Admission is free.
