Nenagh performers going to Electric Picnic!

A group of performing artists involved with Nenagh's Blue Door Sessions are heading to Stradbally this week to appear at the 2018 Electric Picnic festival.

The Blue Door Sessions is a small stage/platform for performers of any kind to present their work. Six people from Nenagh are going to represent the Blue Door Sessions at Electric Picnic.

They will be performing a section from Joanna Ryan-Purcell’s adaptation of 'The Children of Lir'. The piece is called ‘Fionnuala - The Dancing Snow Flakes’.

Fionnuala is alone on the water, trapped in a body that is not hers. She has no control over her situation and she is waiting to be rescued by someone, something, somehow. She just has to believe that one day she will be free.

There is one thing she has control over and that is her perspective. She chooses to see beauty rather than becoming overwhelmed by the dark world she is stuck in. This prevents her from drowning.

This performance will be presented through contemporary movement, spoken word and performance art, underpinned by music that reflects Fionnuala’s state of being. It will be performed by Joanna Ryan-Purcell, Lisa Manning, Damian O’Donoghue and Adrian Fahy. The performers will be accompanied by photographer Shannon Mostert and stage manager Rebekah Kelly.

For anyone going to Electric Picnic this year, the performance will take place at The Village Hall, Global Green, on Friday August 31st at 8pm. Like 'The Blue Door Studio Nenagh' on Facebook to stay tuned for more info!!

Note too that Joanna Ryan-Purcell will be publicly announcing the staging of her 'Children of Lir' project, after intense development, on October 28th.
