One-man show at Nenagh Library

Nenagh Library was pleased to host Robert Gogan’s one-man show, ‘Strolling Through Ulysses’, last week as part of our Bloomsday celebrations.

As we are now an EDIC (Europe Direct Information Centre) for the region, we were delighted to have the opportunity to showcase 'Ulysses', the most well-known work of one of Ireland's foremost literary figures of the twentieth century.

Bringing a cast of characters to life for the audience, which included those for whom ‘Ulysses’ has been on their ‘to-do’ list forever and those who remembered reading it in their youth and were now revisiting it, Robert’s performance was described variously as “superb”, “excellent”, “really, really good”. Members of the public were enthusiastic in their praise afterwards, saying that the one-man show “opened a door for us” into the world of ‘Ulysses’. Favourite comment of the night, though, goes to the American lady who said the show was “fabulous... I enjoyed it to my toes”.

So for those of you who gulp at the thought of wading through Joyce's tome, take our advice... take a deep breath, find out where ‘Strolling Through Ulysses’ is performing next and get yourself a ticket.
