Tutorials from North Tipperary Dyslexia Support Group

The North Tipperary Dyslexia Support Group was a beneficiary of the Tesco Community Fund and recently received a cheque from the management and staff of Tesco in Nenagh.

“We group would like to thank Tesco and all the local people who voted for our charity. We greatly appreciate the funds received, which will go towards purchasing software for use by our students in the tutorials.”

The North Tipperary Dyslexia Support Group was established in 2004 by a group of concerned parents in response to the lack of supports for children and families experiencing dyslexia or specific learning difficulties in North Tipperary.

“We are a voluntary, non-profit making support service, which currently runs tutorials for children who need extra help with both English and Math. The tutorials aim to reinforce the core curriculum work covered in school and to build confidence and self-esteem.”

Tutorials run after school, during school term, in Roscrea on Tuesday evenings and in Puckane on Wednesday evenings. The programme was created with the assistance of clinical psychologists and teachers and is taught by professional, experienced, fully qualified teachers.

“If your child is struggling or has been diagnosed with dyslexia or specific learning difficulty and needs extra help with English or Math, we provide a service at a reasonable cost. The tutorials are available to children from junior infants to 6th class in National School and second level students up to Leaving Certificate level.”

If you would like any further information about the tutorials please call Michelle on 087-9833843 (Puckane), or Gillian 087-7641866 (Roscrea).
