Talk on Gambling Addiction

Last Friday our TY students welcomed Tony O'Reilly to the school. Tony is the co-author of ‘Tony10’, the bestselling and award-winning book that tells the story of Tony’s gambling addiction and subsequent recovery. Tony has a unique perspective and insight into the issue of problem gambling and its impact on individuals, families, and communities. Many thanks, Tony for coming to our school.

Sweet Treat

Last Tuesday morning St Paul’s Autism class had a sweet and sensory-filled morning making Rice Krispie buns! They melted the chocolate, stirred in the crispy cereal, and even explored the textures with their hands - a fun and tactile learning experience.

A delicious end to the morning! Thanks to Ms Zoe Farrell, Mr Michael Breen and SNA Jane Fleming for organising this activity.

Yoga Classes in full swing

We are delighted to have Siobhán O’Leary, Yoga Nenagh, back for her weekly classes with our Transition Year, Sixth Year and St Paul’s Autism Class.

The classes run for the full school year.

Yoga can reduce anxiety and stress. Breathing exercises which reduce blood pressure and heart rate and in turn stimulates the vegas nerve to relax the body. Stretching the body to release physical tension. Relaxation to provide space and time to slow down.

Last week Siobhán has a mindfulness discussion about the power of consistent practice.

Small steps of conscious intentional practice results in progress in everything we do, whether that is in school, sports, music, art, lifestyle, and so on. Each student was asked to choose one thing to practice daily for the next week.
