Double All-Ireland winner Michael Cleary

Gauging the mood of the Tipp supporters.

The excitement is palpable around the Premier County this week as Tipperary is decked in blue and gold ahead of the All-Ireland Hurling Final. ANNA POWELL gauged the mood of the fans in Nenagh ahead of the big game.

OLIVER WALSH

“I’m planning to go,”

“It would be brilliant. Brilliant for the county, even the atmosphere at the moment is brilliant.”

“You can see this year that the team has gotten much better.

“Hopefully this is our year and but at least if it’s not, I think there will be one there in the next two years.”

“I think Tipp might just do it by three points.

“We just have to stop Cork from getting goals, if Cork get early goals, I think it will be a worrying time.

“I think we just need a bit of luck as well because Cork are a supreme team, they have twenty years since they won so there’s a lot of pressure on them, we’ll have to be on our top,”

CYNAN BAILEY

“I should be going anyway.”

“It should be a good game; I’m looking forward to going.”

“I think if Tipp stay with them, they have a good chance of winning. I’d say Tipp 3-23 Cork 2-20.”

“Not a lot of people would’ve thought they would get out of Munster in the first place, so it’s good to them getting out of Munster for a start and they’ve stayed going since.”

“Tipp win an All-Ireland every decade, it would be good to get one down already for this decade.”

TOMMY GLEESON

“I’m going to the game; I was at all the other games so I’m looking forward to it.”

“It’s a great achievement for Tipp to get to the final. Nobody expected it. I think we have every chance.

“Tipp don’t lose finals and I think there’s no real pressure on us, all the pressure is on Cork, that gives us a great chance.”

“I think it will be very close, the game could come to the last five or ten minutes, Tipp finished well the last day; Tipp finished well against Clare. Tipp could get over the line late in the game, probably 4-20 to 0-30, something like that.

“It will be a brilliant game, Cork are great supporters, Tipp are brilliant supporters, the last day we had a huge crowd.

“It has the makings of a brilliant game so please god it will be and please God Tipp will win.”

MICHAEL CLEARY – 1989 & 1991 All-Ireland winner

“A special time in Tipperary getting to an All-Ireland. We are lucky that it happens fairly frequently but when it comes around its fantastic.

“It’s great for the whole county. It gives everyone a lift; it puts people in good form.

“I think they have a great chance. It will have to go for them on the day. Cork are favourites and rightly so, but I think Tipp have a great chance.

“Hopefully we can all get behind them on Sunday and be the 16th man and support them and that will get them over the line. I’m hopeful it might be 4-20 to Tipp to 4-18 for Cork.”

“I think they will do well; they will have to play their absolute best to win. They are capable of doing that, they have improved every game this year.

“If we are there with fifteen minutes to go, I would be putting my money on them.”
