Councillor warns of ‘scary’ speeding levels in Tipperary

The new 60km speed limit introduced earlier this year on local roads was being flouted by many drivers, according to Cllr Fiona Bonfield, who said the level of speeding in towns and villages in Tipperary was “serious”.

“It’s absolutely scary the speed cars are travelling at in towns and villages,” she said at the July meeting of Tipperary County Council held in Nenagh.

Director of Services, Liam Brett, said introducing traffic calming measures such as ramps was very expensive and the council’s funds were limited. Priority was being given to surface repairs on roads.
