Nenagh AFC 2-3 Pike Rovers
Nenagh AFC turned in a fighting performance when they hosted Pike Rovers on Sunday in Brickfields but despite their efforts they finished the game empty handed.
Pike were stunned last weekend when they were beaten 5-0 by Fairview and they were determined to put in a better performance this time out.
However, it was the home side who started brightest and they took the lead when Daniel Connolly picked out former Pike youth player Pa Steed to scire after 14 minutes.
The goal shocked Pike out of their slumber and they were back on level terms within two minutes when Adam Lipper found the target.
Aaron Hough scored his first of the season on the half hour mark to put Pike in front.Nenagh began the second half well and were back on level terms when Dylan Morrison was then provider for Adam Brennan’s finish.
Pike again showed their determination to restore their lead ten minutes later through Ruairi Morgan.
The home side never gave up the fight but Pike held out for the win.
There was some relief for Nenagh with the news that their closest rivals Corbally United also suffered defeat, going down 3-0 to Mungret Regional.

Nenagh AFC 'B' hosted Ballynanty Rovers 'B' in a top of the table clash in Division 1B. Two goals inside a minute in the opening ten minutes took the wind out of the Nenagh sails and although Darragh McDonnell pulled one back, the visitors tacked on another couple after the break.
In the same division Glenview Rovers won 3-2 at Newport Town 'B'. Keith Mawdsley netted twice for Newport but goals from Frank Lang, Cian Cusack and Conor McNamara gave Glenview the spoils.
In the Munster Youth Cup, Lough Derg had no answer to a strong Corbally XI and bowed out after a heavy defeat.
