Heffernan confirms he is taking time out
By Shane Brophy
When the 45-man Tipperary senior hurling training panel was named earlier this month, that it didn’t include Barry Heffernan caught many by surprise.
However, it has been confirmed that the two-time All-Ireland winner from Nenagh Eire Og has stepped away from the panel for the time-being.
Recently, Heffernan travelled to Kenya with the Gaelic Players Association (GPA) and fifty other inter-county players as part of the Warriors for Humanity Plant the Planet Games organised by Self Help Africa and Alan Kerins for which he raised over €10,000. After this charity work, Heffernan stayed on in Africa and is still here.
Heffernan has confirmed he was approached to remain part of the panel for 2025 which he was “extremely proud and grateful for” but could not accept due to “personal commitments” and wishes the best to manager Liam Cahill and his teammates going forward.
