Sherry Fitzgerald Talbot offered for sale a residential holding at Landsdown, Portroe by private auction on Thursday, May 5 last. Described as one of the finest agricultural holdings to come on the market in this area in recent times, it incorporates an imposing two-storey residence (in need of renovation) approached by a sweeping tree lined avenue generously combined with 167.65 acres (67.85ha) of top quality pasture land and outbuildings located in a friendly rural district within 2 kms of Portroe, 4 kms of Garrykennedy (on Lough Derg) and 12 kms of Nenagh.

Auctioneer William Talbot firstly offered the entire lot for sale and bidding opened at €1.85m and proceeded in multiples of €50,000 up to €2.15m, at which point it was withdrawn and negotiations ensued. A sale was later agreed for an undisclosed figure. The purchaser is involved in a dairy enterprise. There was only one other offer on lot three, which comprises 42 ha (103.75 acres). Mr Talbot said that he was delighted with the outcome of the auction and the figure archived. The agricultural market remains extremely buoyant at present, and we have an under bidder that is keen to purchase a farm within a 10kms radius of Nenagh.
