Works to commence on Parnell St Car Park

The Parnell Street carpark in Thurles is soon to be resurfaced, with new footpaths and electric vehicle (EV) charging points also installed, according to Fianna Fáil T.D. Jackie Cahill. The Thurles man was speaking today, after receiving confirmation that funding had been secured and put in place for the works to commence in the coming weeks.

Deputy Jackie Cahill said: “I am delighted to confirm that the resurfacing works on the Parnell St carpark in Thurles are due to get under way in the coming weeks. The final designs are now being decided with a contractor expected to be appointed by Tipperary County Council in the very near future.

“The new-look, large carpark that services much of the town will be resurfaced, and new footpaths will also be laid for pedestrians. EV charging points are also set to be installed, which I am glad to see happening. I have been working to increase disabled parking access in the town and to make existing disabled parking spaces made more visible, so these works will certainly help with that also."

Deputy Cahill stated that the local Fianna Fáil team have been working on this for some time, saying: “Myself, Cllr Seamus Hanafin and Cllr Seán Ryan have been working on this for a number of months and we are delighted to see progress being made, and funding secured and in place, for much-needed improvement works for local Thurles infrastructure”, Cahill concluded.
