Finn playing a waiting game

Ballina’s Finn McGeever is anxiously awaiting confirmation over whether he will be competing in next month’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The 21-year-old swimmer was part of the Ireland 4x200m Freestyle Relay team, whose performance at the LEN European Aquatics Championships in Budapest last month, led to world swimming governing body FINA, offering an invitation to Ireland to compete in the event at the Olympic Games. The Men’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay set two new Irish Senior records en route to their invite.

McGeever was on that team by Jack McMillan, Jordan Sloan and Gerry Quinn, however, the final make-up of the team that will compete in Toyko has to be made by Swim Ireland and sanctioned by the Olympic Federation of Ireland in the coming days.
