The musical evening will be streamed live from St Flannan’s Cathedral in Killaloe on Sunday.

Musical evenings planned in Killaloe

Dean Rod Smyth and Rev. Paul Fitzpatrick along with members of the St Flannan’s Vestry are delighted to announce a programme of musical evenings to be streamed live from St Flannan’s Cathedral during the month of May.

The first performance was held last Sunday when The Donoghue Family - Mary Donoghue and her daughters Katie and Laura treated us to a wonderful selection of music. Some of you may already have heard of The Cailini Lua, Katie and Laura are members of that very successful group. Their performance was second to none; the online audience were able to enjoy jigs, ballads and lively reels with the acoustics of St Flannan’s playing their part also. The audience was from far and wide, one of the advantages of the current virtual requirements due to covid restrictions.

The second performance will be by The Mac Partlin Family and will take place this Sunday, May 9th, between 7 and 8pm. Joe will play the tin whistle with his daughter Lucia on violin and his son Jack on the uilleann pipes.

The purpose of the Sunday Selections is to provide a venue for our local musicians to perform to a wider audience albeit virtually. The performers we have lined up are mainly families as they are already in their Covid Bubble.

The Sunday Selections also serve to showcase St Flannan’s Cathedral as a venue for the arts, with it’s stunning interior and superb acoustics it is an asset to the area which we believe can serve the wider community alongside its main purpose as a place of worship.

The streamed performance can be viewed on the live webcam in St Flannan’s Cathedral which can be accessed from our website st-flannans.weebly.com or on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/The-Nenagh-Union-of-Parishes
