Nenagh's CARMHA in running for share of community fund

Aviva Ireland is delighted to announce that CARMHA Ireland, a charity based in Nenagh, has been shortlisted to share in a fund of €100,000.  Nominated by Aileen Delaney, SYS Wealth & Financial Planners, the Aviva Broker Community Fund provides an opportunity for financial advisers/brokers throughout the country to help support their local charities or community organisations that are making a difference in their area. The winners will be announced at a virtual ceremony on Friday, January 15th.

CARMHA Ireland provides free counselling and peer-support service for people over 18 years with co-existing addiction and mental health in a non-residential community setting in Nenagh.

Now in its third year, the Aviva Broker Community Fund, which was launched last September has a total fund of €100,000 to donate to worthwhile projects completed by charities and community organisations.  The Aviva Broker Community Fund will make thirty separate donations, broken down as follows: -

One charity donation of €20,000 to the best submission, plus four runner-up donations of €5,000 to the shortlisted charities

Three local community organisation donations of €10,000 to the best submissions, plus two donations of €5,000 to those shortlisted community organisations

€1,000 donated to 20 charities and community organisations drawn from the list of those entries not shortlisted

CARMHA Ireland is one of five charities shortlisted and is therefore guaranteed to receive a minimum donation of €5,000.  Some 130 applications were received from financial advisers, an increase of 13% on the previous year.  65% of applications received were in the charity sector.

Commenting Brian O’Neill, Head of Communications, Brand & Sponsorship at Aviva Ireland said:  “A key strategic focus of our CSR program is to ensure that we continue to support the communities in which we operate, where our people work and where our customers live. This year, more than ever, charities and local community organisations need our support as many have had reduced fundraising opportunities, whilst at the same time seeing an increase in demand for their services as a result of Covid-19. The Aviva Broker Community Fund is an excellent opportunity for financial advisers throughout the country to help support charities and local community organisations that are close to their heart by nominating them for one of the awards.

“We were delighted with the response from Brokers who, at the end of last year, nominated their local charities/community organisations for the fund, some 30 of which will receive between €1,000 - €20,000 as a result.   We know that these funds will make a huge difference to the winning organisations who do such great work in our communities," concluded Brian O’Neill.
