Media awards highlight value of local newspapers

The Nenagh Guardian has claimed a prestigious Local Ireland Media Award after winning the category for Best Designed Supplement for its 2019 Fashion & Lifestyle magazine.

While an awards ceremony could not take place due to Covid-19, the organisers have complied a video featuring some of the winners together with a message from the sponsors - see below.

Garry Cotter, Nenagh Guardian Editor, said: “This fashion and lifestyle supplement has always proved popular with our female readers. We are thankful to the great support we get from local advertisers while the editorial team pulled out all the stops in contributing informative fashion and beauty-related articles.”

According to Andrew Algeo, Chief Executive of the National Lottery: “Local newspapers, such as the Nenagh Guardian, are the lifeblood of communities and hold a very important place in Irish society, providing a vital service that should be cherished and supported. While it has never been easier for people to access news they still turn to their local newspaper for reliable, trusted information. The need for such credible information has never been as important.

“This partnership with Local Ireland is a natural fit for the National Lottery. Like local newspapers, the National Lottery is embedded in communities through our network of over 5,500 retailers who sell our games.”
