Male arrested over Nenagh thefts

 

A MAN suspected of the theft of up to €2,000 worth of alcohol in the Nenagh area was arrested in the town on Tuesday of last week.
Gardaí were on patrol in the Stereame area of the town at around 4pm when they recognised a male fitting the description of person who they wanted to interview in relation to substantial thefts of alcoholic drinks from shops both in Nenagh and Roscrea. 
He was detained and interviewed in relation to five thefts which have occurred in the district and subsequently appeared before Limerick District Court on Wednesday last were he was remanded in custody. Gardaí have forwarded a file on the matter to the DPP. 
Meanwhile, an incident of criminal damage at Newport Garda Station is also being investigated after two windows at the front of the property were broken  on Tuesday of last week. 
Staying in Newport, a male was arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a road traffic accident in the townland of Barna on Tuesday of last week.
Gardaí in Nenagh are investigating an attempted burglary of a business premises on the Old Birr Road in the town between Friday and Saturday last.  Nothing was stolen but a lock was damaged. 
A shed was broken into overnight  at Ballyduff, Roscrea,  on Saturday last and a number of tools were taken from the property. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses. 
A male was arrested on suspicion of drink driving  on Sunday last at Dublin Road, Nenagh. The arrest at 8am was made following a road traffic accident. A file is being prepared for the DPP.
