Nenagh Ormond in historic Limerick Charity Cup Final this Friday

NENAGH ORMOND

v

GARRYOWEN

Market's Field, Limerick

Friday 17th November

Kick-Off @ 7.30pm

Nenagh Ormond's first appearance in a Limerick Charity Cup final will be a notable occasion this Friday night as the game will mark the return of rugby to the Market's Field in Limerick city.

The match will have a few “Firsts” attaching to it. Nenagh Ormond have reached the Sporting Limerick Charity Cup Final for the first time, having defeated Shannon and UL Bohemians in the earlier rounds back in September. Since then they have won four of their first seven games in Ulster Bank League Division 2A and sit in fourth place.

It is a huge test for Nenagh Ormond coming up against Garryowen who sit in mid-table in Division 1A. From their foundation until their relocation to Dooradoyle in the late 1950s, Garryowen had long connections to the Markets Field ground.

There is great anticipation in both clubs and the wider rugby family about this game which is the first rugby match to be played at the venue, which is also the home of Limerick FC, since its redevelopment was completed two years ago.

Welcoming the event, North Munster Rugby Chairman Ger Malone said that it was "timely and fitting" that the game would return to a "venue so steeped in Munster Rugby history".
LEDP (Limerick Enterprise Development Partnership), the Markets Field stadium owners see the event as being a further step in the recognition of the venue as a multi-sport facility for the people of Limerick. Sporting Limerick are also proud to be associated with this initiative.
A bumper crowd is expected for this historic night which will benefit local charities, including St. Vincent's Lisnagry, Parkinson's Association, Redemptorist Fathers Christmas Poor Campaign, Limerick Marine Search and Rescue and Milford Hospice.

This should be a great sporting occasion and also supporting Local Charities.
