Swan wins European Eventing silver

Cloughjordan's Harry Swan was a member of the Irish Under 16 Eventing team that won Team Silver at European Pony Eventing Championships which took place at Bishop Burton in England last weekend.

Swan (16) from Modreeney, Cloughjordan, was part of the Irish team aboard Wilderwood Storm (ISH) along with Isabelle Comerford (Colour Me Fancy (ISH), Chloe Fagan (Fernhill Timbacktoo) and Holly Love (Cloughreagh Charlie)

The team were in fourth place after the opening Dressage phase. They moved into silver medal position after Saturday's Cross Country with all four Irish riders jumping clear.

Ireland added just eight penalties in the final Showjumping phase to finish on a total of 107.5 points, just behind winners Great Britain and ahead of France in third.
Harry also competed in the individual competition where he finished in eleventh place with team-mate Sophie Foyle jumping a brilliant final clear round to take the individual Silver medal.

Harry Swan is a transition year student at Glenstal Abbey and is the son of Carol and Charlie Swan, nine time Irish champion national hunt jockey winner with Harry testing the waters in following his dad having ridden four races as an amateur for the first time this year.
