Marvellous Morrissey treble at Thurles

A wonderful weekend on the tracks of Ireland brought countless success stories for local kennels which were spearheaded by a truly magnificent achievement by the father and daughter combination of Tina & Tommy Morrissey when returning a treble from their three hopefuls at Thurles on Saturday.

Dominating the early part of the card, the kennels had registered the feat as early as Race 5 and it was the victory of young pup Errill Tom (Ballymac Eske-Mandeville Can) which shone brightest as he made a stunning debut in the A8 525 Yard contest.

Breaking on terms from Trap 5, he would reach full stride quicker than his rivals and retained a one length lead to the crown of the opening bends. Dictating to the back-straight, he would readily stretch to a three length advantage before halfway and completed a facile success thereafter when continuing to increase his advantage throughout.

Displaying pace at all points of the track, he returned an eight and a half-length winner over a staying-on Fairyhill Rico, for Leanne Rafferty, in a brilliant debut time of 29.27 (-20) and appears a very smart prospect as an April 2017 baby!
