Paul Farrell

Tipp duo in Irish Super Bowl

Two Tipperary men will be chasing All Ireland glory on the field in Dublin this Sunday.

No, it won’t be at Croke Park and the All Ireland final but at the same time on the South side of Dublin at Tallaght Stadium, the All Ireland final of American Football will be taking place.

Shamrock Bowl 2018 will see nine times winners Dublin Rebels chase a three-in-a-row against the Cork Admirals who have among their squad Darragh O’Farrell from Borrisokane and Paul Farrell from Cloughjordan.

Darragh (42) has been playing the game for over ten years in various leagues has Bowl winning experience in the UK and has played some college ball also in the US.

Possibly the oldest player in this years final, he doesn't let that show in his performances, playing in the defensive line and leads a tight pack of linemen in one of the hardest defenses in the league.

Paul Farrell (26) has been playing the increasingly popular game for three years with the Admirals. He plays both offense and defense, primarily as a cornerback this season where his role is essential to stop wide receivers from catching the ball, and has had multiple defensive picks at crucial times this year, as well as making some standout tackles in the semi-final win over the UCD Sentinels last Sunday.

Despite just three years playing experience has a wise tactical head and reads the game with precision.

They are playing on a Cork Admirals team making just their second appearance in the Shamrock Bowl but have never won it. The sides met twice in the regular season with one win each leaving the final finely poised.

The final kicks off at 2.00pm at Tallaght Stadium on Sunday.
