Blue shakes maiden tag in Limerick sprint

Opening the weekend action in winning fashion, Denis Collins’s Pallasmore Blue (Definate Opinion/Grenanstown Lady) confirmed the suspicion that he was primed for an improved showing when shedding his maiden tag in game fashion over 350 yards at Limerick on Friday.

Coming on the back of a second place finish in S7 grade almost six weeks ago when impressing after a poor start, an improved break when almost level away from Trap 2 this time would afford him the opportunity to display superior early pace on the run to the first bend in the S8 contest.

A length to the good at the corner, he galloped the bends eye-catchingly smoothly and effectively settled the race when extending to his three length winning margin before reaching the home-straight. Staying strongly to the line, he completed with the minimum of fuss when posting 19.38. He will now rise to S5 for his next outing but now that the penny appears to have fully dropped, that upgrade should not prove too daunting.
