Liscarton is leading Lady at Thurles

Kick starting a wonderful night of action at Thurles for the semi-finals of the 2018 Kasko Unraced 525 Stake, local kennels dominated the opening race on the Saturday card where PJ Richardson’s Liscarton Lady (Crash/Ardilaun Lady) claimed the bragging rights after a game staying performance.

A maiden ahead of the A6 525 yard event, she would find a smart break from Trap 5 but would reach the opening bend in second position as John Richardson’s Lisatunny Anny displayed much the best early pace to lead on the inside. The latter would continue to set the pace to the back-straight as Liscarton Lady raced second with a deficit of four lengths to recover at the halfway point. Competitive to the third bend, Lisatunny Anny still retained a narrow lead but her margin was greatly reduced by the strong staying Liscarton Lady who closed right up to join her on the outside with PJ Richardson now primed to win the battle of brothers. Liscarton Lady duly converted her opportunity when asserting off the final bend and maintaining a strong gallop to the line, repelled the challenge of a fellow strong stayer by just a head at the line in 29.60 (-20), the first win of her career in thrilling fashion.
