Finn doubles up at Downpatrick

Borrisokane trainer Jimmy Finn made the long trek to Downpatrick on Friday well worth while as he recorded a big priced double courtesy of Dorkas in the 72-102 two mile and seven handicap chase and Turbo in the concluding bumper.

The Doyen mare Dorkas set the ball rolling when she battled gamely to land the extender two mile and seven handicap chase at odds of 14/1.

Jockey Luke Dempsey elected to settle Dorkas in mid division early on but by the time the third last was reached he had mover her into contention. At this point there were a few in contention but when she dropped to third place at the final fence she looked beaten. However, when Dempsey galvanised her for a final onslaught she responded in the gamest possible fashion to reel in He Knows My Name in the dying strides and land the spoils by half a length.
