Mullins brothers dominate Punchestown card

Mullins brothers, Willie and Tony, took Saturday's Punchestown card by storm, winning four of the seven races down for decision but unsurprisingly it was Willie who took the lions share rattling off a three-timer that included the two graded races on the programme.

Invitation Only set the ball rolling with a comfortable enough success in the Grade 3 Novice Chase over two mile and four. Hugely impressive when opening his chasing account at Navan, punters kept faith in him by sending him off a heavily supported favourite in spite of the confidence behind the Gordon Elliott runner The Storyteller.

Setting off in front, the Flemensfirth gelding gave an exhibition of jumping, standing off many of his fences and tightening up when he needed to. The Storyteller looked to be his most serious rival in the last half mile but pecked on landing at the second last fence which cost him ground as well as momentum and it was left to the other Mullins runner Koshary to follow him home two and a half lengths in arrears with The Storyteller a further two lengths back in third place.
