Plusvital to Host a Series of Free Seminars on Equine Genetics in Kildare and Tipperary

Plusvital (www.plusvital.com), the Irish equine science company which last year merged with Equinome, the University College Dublin equine genetics company, has announced that it will run a series of free evening seminars on equine genetics.

Three seminars will take place in the UK (Newbury, Newmarket and Yorkshire) from 18 to 20 October, while two seminars will take place in Ireland, Newbridge (17 October) and Horse and Jockey (5 December).

The seminars aim to provide members of the equine industry with an insight into recent advancements in equine genetics, their current capabilities and applications and the likely direction of this technology in the years ahead.

They will also provide industry professionals, and other interested parties, with the opportunity to put their questions to the experts and learn more about how equine genetics has evolved to become another tool used by global Thoroughbred trainers and breeders in making vital decisions.

Donal Ryan, Chief Operating Officer, Plusvital, said, “Ever since the announcement by Galileo Gold’s connections over the summer that they would use a Plusvital genetic test as part of their decision on whether or not to send him to the Derby, there has been considerable interest and comment on the potential positive and negative effects of these new technologies in horse racing and breeding.”

He added, “The aim of these free seminar evenings is to present the science in an accessible way, explain what these tools can do, and also can’t do, and give some examples of how they are being used in both the Thoroughbred industry but also in other industries. We welcome all interested parties to attend, including those that are curious or are sceptical. Our aim is to give a little bit more detail and allow the audience to put it to the experts!”

The seminars, which are free to all to attend, will begin at 6pm with registration and light refreshments on arrival.

The dates and locations for the seminars are as follows:

17/10/16: Keadeen Hotel, Newbridge, Ireland
18/10/16: Hilton North Hotel, Newbury, UK
19/10/16: Bedford Lodge, Newmarket, UK
20/10/16: Wetherby Racecourse, Yorkshire, UK
