The shot in the arm Tipp needed - Cahill

A great victory and an injection into the arm everyone in Tipperary needed,” was how Tipperary manager Liam Cahill described his under 21 sides win over Galway in the All Ireland semi-final.

Off the back of the poor Munster Final defeat and performance, expectations were low among the public and that was shown in the poor Tipp support in the crowd of 4,568 but the players knew different and Cahill lauded their response to the Cork defeat.

But it was also a seminal evening for the management who took a long honest look at how they did things and were rewarded with a winning performance, particularly in the first half.

Cahill added: “After the Munster Final, we sat down in the team hotel when it was all fairly raw and fairly disheartening to say the least, but when you fail in a Tipperary jersey, there has to be consequences. It happened in my time and in Mikey Bevans time.

Hence the changes tonight and whoever was going to come to the field not feeling sorry for themselves and not licking their wounds of sorry from the Munster Final was going to get to play and the fellas that played tonight won the jersey the right way and proved their point tonight.”
