Nenagh and Roscrea meet in a crucial Division 1 clash on Friday evening

County Leagues hit crucial stage

The County Hurling Leagues have reached its final round of games in most divisions and next weekend sees promotion and relegation battles in all six divisions to be determined in some and become a lot clearer in others.

In all six divisions, the top two in each group progress to the semi-finals. In divisions 2 to 6, only the two finalists are promoted to the higher division for the next year while the bottom teams in each division group are relegated.

With the Tipperary hurlers out of the championship, clubs will be using the remaining group games, as well as knockout games in July to tune up for the restart of the club championships, likely late next month.

Division 1: Group 1 sees Toomevara already through to the semi-finals and will be joined by either Thurles Sarsfields or Borris-Ileigh who meet in Thurles next Wednesday. The relegation spot will go down to the wire with Eire Og Annacarty and Portroe meeting this Sunday while Mullinahone would hope to take something off of Toomevara to ease their worries.

Group 2 is going right down to the wire with all six teams in with a chance of being involved in the semi-finals, while Kiladangan are the only side so far safe from relegation. Roscrea host Nenagh Eire Og and such is both teams strong score difference, the winner should finish in the top two spots. A draw for Kiladangan at home to Clonoulty/Rossmore should be enough for them to reach the last four while neighbours Drom & Inch and Upperchurch/Drombane could determine who is relegated to Division 2.
