Mistakes prove costly as Tipp exit the championship stage

GAA: Munster Senior Hurling Championship Round 4

Tipperary 1-21

Clare 1-23

The fact that Tipperary lost to Clare on Sunday in a game they dominated for long spells probably sums up the whole year in a microcosm.

At the fourth time of asking in the Munster Championship, the team finally produced a performance, which should have been good enough to win but ultimately it wasn’t.

This was a game Tipp played well in and lost, yet they were outplayed for long spells against Cork and Waterford and managed to get a point each from both games. Hurling….funny old game!

Unsurprisingly, lady luck was always going to come against Tipperary at some stage this summer following the large slice of good fortune given to them in the comeback against Waterford and when eighteen seconds after Jake Morris hit the post which would have put Tipp seven points clear with five minutes plus injury time remaining, Clare goaled at the other end through Ian Galvin to cut the margin to the minimum, you just had that feeling that it wasn’t going to be Tipperary’s day once again.
