Tipp use up another life with another Lazarus like comeback

GAA: Munster Senior Hurling Championship Round 3

Waterford 2-22

Tipperary 2-22

With twenty minutes to go against Waterford last Sunday, Tipperary were facing the ignominy of being out of the championship before they have even played their final game.

Eleven points behind after 53 minutes and down to fourteen men since just before half time following the harsh dismissal of Michael Cahill for two bookable offences (both of which were very questionable), there wasn’t a semblance that a comeback was in the offing but in what is proving to be a dramatic first round-robin stage of the Munster Championship, there was yet another twist.

Somehow, some way, Tipperary fought their way back to claim what could be a crucial draw, which at least ensures their final game against Clare next Sunday remains relevant for the Premier County at least.

Why they keep putting themselves in such positions still remains a mystery after three games of the championship. The feeling was that the bounce gained from the second half recovery against Cork would pick the team up but instead it reverted to the performance against Limerick and the first half against the rebels with Tipperary players second to the ball and being dictated to by an eager Waterford side who were far from demoralised considering the five players they lost through injury and suspension in the loss to Clare.
