Tipperary's initial foray into the new-look Munster Minor Hurling Championship proved a fruitless one following a disappointing defeat to Limerick on Sunday.

Embarking on their quest for their 40th provincial title at minor grade, Tipperary fielded a physically strong side with a sprinkling of players from all four divisions. With Toomevara supremo, Thomas Dunne back at the helm Tipperary faced a strong Limerick outfit and were seeking to get this year’s campaign off to a winning start.

Having annexed the Munster title in 2015 and 2016 and being arguably one of the most impressive sides in last year’s championship despite their replay loss to the Rebels, Tipperary’s pedigree at this level in recent years has being of note but with the new under 17 format in play form really goes out the window for this year’s championship.
