MUNSTER MINOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The Tipperary minor footballers took on Kerry in the Electric Ireland Munster Championship Quarter-Final last Wednesday night and despite putting in a commendable first half performance ended up on the receiving end of a 1-15 to 0-4 loss.
As a result they are back out again this week where they will no doubt endeavour to put that experience to good effect as they travel to Newcastlewest to take on Limerick in the semi-final playoff 1 this Wednesday evening, April 18th at 6:30pm. Limerick lost their match to Clare last week and the winners of this tie will go on to play Waterford in playoff 2 on Wednesday week at a Waterford venue.

COUNTY FIXTURES
It was a busy weekend of action across the county with the Tipperary Water County Senior and Intermediate Hurling Championship along with fixtures in the Tipperary Water Seamus Ó Riain Cup taking pride of place.
Next weekend it is the turn of the Tipperary Water County Senior and Intermediate Football Championships with a number of interesting games down for decision once again.

NEW TIPPERARY CLUB DRAW
The new Tipperary GAA Club Draw material is being printed and distribution to clubs is ongoing. The first draw for the new season is scheduled for Friday, May 4th.
TIPPERARY FUN RUN/WALK
The Tipperary Supporters Club and the County Camogie Board are once again hosting a 5k fun run/walk which is a fundraiser for both the Supporters Club and the County Camogie Board, to aid county teams in their preparation for their respective 2018 championships.
The run / walk follows on from the outstanding success when first held last year. The event will take place once again at the Dome, Semple Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday, May 7th with an 11am start and will be followed by an open Tipperary training session in Semple Stadium.
Please note the original email address advertised on the run/walk flyer is incorrect and the organisers apologise to those who have tried to register and failed. If you do wish to pre-register online you can do so at www.tippsupportersclub.com. or on the morning of the run/walk. Adult entry is €10 and U16 €5. All participants are encouraged to wear your club colours on the day.

CRAOBH NA hÉIREANN - SCÓR SINSIR 2018
Newcastle Club in South Tipperary created history on Saturday last when they represented Tipperary in the All-Ireland Final of Scór Sinsir in both Rince Foirne and Rince Seite, pictured right. The event took place in Knocknaree Arena at I.T. Sligo and it was the culmination of the year’s activities for Scór competitors and supporters. Under the tutelage of Kathy McGrath Coleman these wonderful young ladies stepped it out in fine fashion and wooed the audience with a splendid display in both competitions. However with the cream from all four provinces taking part Newcastle did not receive the final accolade but the girls though heartbroken continued through the evening and through the night to showcase their talents and join with other Munster and provincial clubs to celebrate endeavour and success. We sincerely appreciate their efforts and congratulate them on having represented their club, county, and province so magnificently. Míle buíochas leis an lucht leanúna a bhi ann chun tacú leo.
Earlier in the day in the Clayton Hotel, Tipperary was proudly represented by the Loughmore-Castleiney team consisting of Pat Healy, Murt Ryan, Frank McGrath and Martin Ryan in the National Tráth na gCeist Final. Kerry with an amazing score of 74 out of 80 won the day and as always Tipperary and the other Munster Counties had extremely creditable scores in this battle of wits. Maith sibh leaids. Rinne sibh éacht.
POST PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Best wishes to a number of Tipperary Post Primary Schools in action this week. This Wednesday, April 18th, in the Corn Aodh Ui Dhudha (15 A H) Final, Thurles CBS will take on De La Salle in Clonmel Sportsfield at 1:30pm.
In the Corn Chaoimhin Ui Mhearain (15 D H) Final, St. Mary's Newport take on Ennistymon CBS in Meelick where throw-in is at 12:30pm.
While at 2pm in Ballymacarbry in the Corn Sheamais Mhic Ghabhann (15 C H) Semi-Final Scoil Ruain Killenaule will play Pobail Scoil Na Trionide from Youghal.
Elsewhere, in football competition Colaiste Cluain Meala meet St. Pauls Community College Waterford in the 16.5 E Football Semi-Final in the WIT Sports Campus at 12:30pm.
Commiserations to Presentation Thurles who lost out to Glenamaddy CS 5-13 to 2-7 in the All-Ireland PPS Senior B LGFA Final played in Ballinasloe on Sunday last.
CELTIC CHALLENGE
The Celtic Challenge takes place again this year during the exam period and Tipperary will again have two teams in the competition. Tipperary Blue - representing players from Mid and North and Tipperary Gold - representing players from South and West will participate. Management teams are now in place and the selection process has commenced.
The following is criteria for selection on these teams; 1 - Players doing state examinations are not eligible for selection. 2 - Players must be 17 years of age (No U16 players eligible) and 3 - Players currently on the county minor hurling squad are not required to attend.
Trials for both teams have commenced and take place in Dr Morris Park.

COUNTY FINAL MATCH FINAL PROGRAMMES UPDATE
As previously reported, staff at Tipperary Studies department of Tipperary County Council library service have been working over the past number of weeks to digitise their back catalogue of senior county hurling and football match final programmes. Thanks to the kind donation of programmes, on temporary loan, from the personal collections of Joe Lonergan, Donaskeagh and Jody Spooner, Roscrea, all Tipperary senior hurling club final programmes from 1976 to 2017 are now complete online. These may be viewed at http://tipperarystudies.ie/tipperary-gaa-senior-hurling-county-final-match-programmes/ Also included are the finals from 1968, 1970 and 1972.
With thanks to Joe Lonergan, the county football finals are virtually complete also, from 1976 to 2017, with the exception of the 1982 decider between Clonmel Commercials and Fethard. Staff at Tipperary Studies would love to hear from anyone who may be in a position to offer on a short, temporary loan, a copy of this programme to make the football collection complete.

HEALTH & WELLBEING
Healthy Club Officer training will take place in Thurles on Thursday 26th of April next at 7pm with venue yet to be confirmed. If your club has not appointed an officer yet please do so immediately and forward the name and contact details to County Secretary Tim Floyd.
The Limerick/Tipperary Samaritans branch GAA Liaison Officer is Helen Kelly 089-2545350 and the organisation is interested in delivering short talks to clubs on the work of the Samaritans and how talking and looking after mental health can be of benefit to general wellbeing. The county committee would like to encourage clubs to make contact with Helen and avail of this valuable service.
The County Health and Wellbeing Committee would also like to encourage GAA clubs to becoming involved in the 2018 Pieta House Darkness into Light campaign which commences in the small hours of May 12th and finishes as the sun is rising.
Clubs might consider encouraging all adult members or just an adult team to participate and to invite family and friends to join them at an event closest to you. By participating in their Darkness into Light flagship fundraiser in one of the many venues in Tipperary your club will be helping the wider community to support Pieta House.
