GAA Charity Partners team up for the Sláinte Ball

Three of the Official GAA Charity Partners – The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Breakthrough Cancer Research and Make-A-Wish® Ireland – are teaming up this year to impact people’s lives for the better with the Sláinte Ball, a gala dinner celebrating the best of Irish, taking place on Friday, 16 March at Croke Park. Legendary Irish sports commentator, Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh will join presenter and broadcaster Matt Cooper and RTÉ sports broadcaster Evanne Ní Chuilinn along with a host of other stars on the night to entertain guests.

Orla Dolan, CEO of Breakthrough Cancer Research states, “This is a unique initiative, with three charities joining forces in partnership for Irish communities. We really wanted to celebrate the GAA and the best of Irish and having the Sláinte Ball in Croke Park on the St Patrick’s weekend made perfect sense. We are delighted to be working with the GAA to make this year’s charity partnership one of the best ever for both the GAA, its members and communities across Ireland.”

Kevin Sexton, chairman of the GAA Sport and Recreational committee, welcomed the upcoming gala event and outlined that there is a strong link between the GAA and its official charity partners, “From a GAA perspective, community is the heartbeat of the organization - and our member’s health and well-being is paramount. Our official charities fundamentally exist to help our communities and people in need at large. It was therefore important that the GAA recognize the valuable work that the charities do on a daily basis. Their work is extremely important to our society as a whole, and that’s why we are delighted they decided to team up to celebrate the best of Irish on Friday, 16 March at Croke Park”

As part of their Official GAA Charity Partnership, the charities each received a donation of €20,000 along with assistance in raising awareness and championing them in their fundraising efforts throughout the year.

Tickets for the black-tie event, which will include a drinks reception sponsored by Dingle Gin, cost €175 per ticket and €1,750 per table of 10. For enquiries please contact Breakthrough Cancer Research at 1890 998 998.
