Forde to miss Cork clash after losing appeal

Forde to miss Cork clash after losing appeal

Tipperary will have to plan for Sunday’s Munster Senior Hurling Championship opener against Cork without Jason Forde after the midfielder/forward lost his appeal last night against his one match suspension.

The Silvermines clubman took his case to the GAA’s Central Appeals Committee at Croke Park but the CAC backed the Central Hearings Committee’s decision to suspend the player for contributing to a melee when he clashed with Wexford manager Davy Fitzgerald during last month’s League semi-final at Nowlan Park.

Tipperary had the option of appealing it further to the independent Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA) but Tipperary County Board Secretary Tim Floyd, confirmed to Tipp FM that they won't be taking the case to the DRA and Forde will miss this Sunday's game.

With injury doubts over Patrick Maher, Michael Cahill and Barry Heffernan, and with Donagh Maher definitely ruled out with a hamstring injury, Tipperary manager Michael Ryan will have some tough calls to make when the team is selected with the announcement to be made on Friday evening at 9pm.
