Tipperary's Paul Flynn in action against Cork

Tipp's unbeaten run ended by Cork

Cork 0-26

Tipperary 2-16

Tipperary’s unbeaten run stretching back almost a year came to an end at Páirc Uí Rinn on Sunday as Patrick Horgan’s point four minutes into injury time proved to be the winner for Cork.

Trailing by two points at half-time, a Tipp side without many key players, rallied to lead by two with 16 minutes remaining, but the hosts, who have enjoyed a good league, showed good character to claim the win required to ensure that they progressed to the quarter-finals.

Tipp were guaranteed top spot in Division 1A regardless of the outcome – their last-eight opponents will be Offaly, who finished fourth in 1B – and ultimately this outcome isn’t likely to have any lasting repercussions, but Michael Ryan and his management team may rue that more players didn’t put up their hands as potential championship starters.
