Our Lady's captain Paddy Cadell lifts the Croke Cup

All Ireland prayer answered for Our Lady's Templemore

From the start of the school term, there was a sense of expectation that this was the year Our Lady’s Secondary School Templemore had to make their mark.

39 years had passed since the schools one and only All Ireland success. In that time, great players such as Benny Dunne, David Kennedy, Gearoid Ryan, Noel & John McGrath, Colin O’Riordan had all come and gone without achieving any element of success.

Winning a second Harty Cup last month wasn’t enough, they wanted more and in was proved in the way they won the All Ireland Post Primary Schools Senior ’A’ hurling title at Semple Stadium, Thurles last Saturday.

“They just refused to be beaten,” reflected victorious manager Tom Byrnes on his sides 3-13 to 3-11 win over St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny who were denied a first ever four-in-a-row.
