Tipperary Ladies Football Chairperson Biddy Ryan is inducted into the Ladies Gaelic Football Hall of Fame

Tipperary’s Biddy Ryan has today been confirmed as the 2016 Inductee into the Ladies Gaelic Football Hall of Fame.

Biddy was one of the founding members of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and attended the first ever meeting of the LGFA at Hayes Hotel in 1974.
 
Biddy has a long history in Ladies Gaelic Football having played with Tipperary in the 60’s and early 70’s. She had retired before the first ever Ladies Gaelic Football All Ireland Final in 1974 which featured Tipperary who went on to defeat Offaly in October 1974 but she was the county’s first ever secretary that year.

Biddy has been involved in an administrative capacity with Tipperary since 1974 and is now the current Chairperson of the Tipperary Ladies County Board. Biddy was also a founding member of her local Ardfinnan club and has been a lifelong member and administrator of the club.

Biddy will officially be inducted into the Ladies Gaelic Football Hall of Fame on Saturday at the TG4 All Stars in Citywest. The 4 Provincial Young Player’s of the Year will also be presented on Saturday. Amy O’Connor from Knockmore in Mayo will receive the Connacht award, Dearbhla Coleman from Clann Éireann in Armagh is the Ulster Young Player of the Year, Fiadhna Tangney from Beaufort in Kerry is the Munster Young Player of the Year and Dublin’s Caoimhe O’Connor from Clontarf is the Leinster Young Player of the Year.

The Hall of Fame Award and the Young Player’s Player of the Year Awards will be presented at the TG4 All Star Awards in Citywest Hotel on Saturday. The 2016 TG4 All Star Award winners will also be announced along with the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Player’s Player of the Year Award winners.
