Mick O’ to open new Toomevara development (05/12/09)
By Shane Brophy One of the greats of the GAA, Mick O’Dwyer (pictured right) will officially open the new developments at St. Michael’s Park, Toomevara this Saturday afternoon, December 5th. To say that you would not associate Gaelic football with Toomevara would be an understatement but having the most successful ever manager at senior level in either football or hurling to christen the new complex is sure to add to the sense of occasion while a number of current Tipperary hurling stars will also be present. The Waterville native and current Wicklow manager will officially open the million euro plus development which has seen the overhaul of the club grounds, aimed at providing the best possible facilities for all within the Toomevara club into the future. The new two-storey clubhouse has four full sized dressing rooms with shower facilities, referees room, medical/physiotherapy room, laundrette and kitchen as well as fully equipped gymnasium, office as well as large and small meeting rooms. An indoor hurling alley has also been built between the two playing pitches with the scoreboard on the main pitch being revamped. There are also full car parking facilities on site. The launch will have a festive theme to it as it will coincide with a Christmas Market which it is hoped would become an annual event, not only for the community in Toomevara but for the greater North Tipperary area. As part of the market, there will be food stalls with a festive feel while the first Christmas trees of the season can also be bought. Santa Claus will also be making a visit while there will also be a dog show and vintage car display. |
