'All the Money in the World' in Nenagh

A much-talked about film on the famous taking hostage of John Paul Getty III – who once lived on the shore of Lough Derg at Ballinderry – opened at Nenagh's Ormond Cineplex last Friday.

'All the Money in the World' tells of how the 16-year-old grandson of a US oil tycoon was abducted in Italy in 1973. Starring Michelle Williams, Christopher Plummer and Mark Williams, it relays the harrowing events after the teenager's grandfather refuses to pay the ransom.

The Getty family acquired Gurthalougha House, Ballinderry, in 1998. John Paul Getty lived on and off on the 100-acre lakefront estate with his mother, Gail Harris Getty, until his death in 2011. The family sold Gurthalougha House in 2012 for around €2.5 million.

Directed by Ridley Scott and receiving three nominations at the 75th Golden Globe Awards, 'All the Money in the World' screens daily at Nenagh Ormond Cineplex at 6.30pm and 9pm.
