Toome' teacher's book of 'Heroes'

'Heroes – Touching Hearts and Minds' is the title of a new children's book from Toomevara author Siobhán Hackett.
You do not need a cape or a superpower to make a difference in the world, your own life and the lives of others.

Heroes come in all shapes, sizes and ages. Your education, colour, background or social status do not influence the positive change you can make in the world. It is the size of your heart.

'Heroes' is a beautifully illustrated book with 22 short stories about inspirational people who, against all odds, have overcome obstacles in their life and have persevered to become hugely successful in their field.  By identifying with these issues, young people can be enabled to believe that, regardless of what challenges they face, they can get through it, develop character, learn important life skills and reach their goals.

The book has been illustrated by Tara Fitzgibbon from Thurles, an art student at the National College of Art & Design. The cover and website for 'Heroes' were designed by Shane Bonfield, a graduate of NCAD from Ballycommon and son of Pat Bonfield and Anne Lawlor - an art teacher at Ursuline Secondary School, Thurles.

The book includes stories about Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Leo Messi. Be inspired by the 'Heroes' in this book and become your own 'Hero'. Be the spark of light that ignites others to shine bright, because no one is ever too small to make a difference. Heroes are just ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Believe in yourself and stand up for people who can’t stand up for themselves. Never, ever, give up.
