Gerry McInerney: Garda appeal for information

Gardaí are appealing for information on the last known whereabouts of Gerry McInerney, whose body was discovered in a Nenagh housing estate last week.

Mr McInerney (52), who was originally from Borrisoleigh, was well-known in Nenagh as a former grocery shop proprietor on Pearse St.

His body was found in a house in Ballygraigue Court last Saturday. He died the previous Thursday.
While not treating the death as suspicious, gardaí are appealing for information on Mr McInerney's movements in the days and hours before his death.

Anyone with information can contact Nenagh Garda Station at (067) 50450.

Mr McInerney traded at The Ferry Service Station on the Tipperary side of Portumna Bridge for three years before coming to Nenagh to open a Spar shop on Pearse St. A former member of Fianna Fáil, he stood for election to Tipperary Co Council as an independent candidate in 2014 but withdrew prior to polling day. Also living in the town's Radharc Darach estate, he remained an active member of the community in Nenagh.

Reposing at Kennedy's Funeral Home in Borrisoleigh this Wednesday evening, Requiem Mass for Mr McInerney is to take place at the Sacred Heart Church, Borrisoleigh, on Thursday at 11am, followed by interment in St Brigid's cemetery.

May he rest in peace.
