Funding for Nenagh Castle feasibility study

Funding has been confirmed for a feasibility study on the next stage of enhancing Nenagh Castle as a visitor attraction.

Minister of State with responsibility for the OPW Kevin Boxer Moran visited the site last September. Local TD Alan Kelly said the minister has now sanctioned a study looking at various options for funding, including, potentially, a walkway to the castle, lighting of the castle, an interpretive centre, and enhancing the grounds around the castle.

“Following a meeting with myself and Cllr Hughie McGrath last week, he has now committed to funding a feasibility study to develop the next stage of the castle,” Deputy Kelly said of the minister.

“I want to acknowledge the collaborative work of Cllr Hughie McGrath on this project. Working together, we have been able to bring this about and I look forward to more funding coming to the castle within six months.”
