Solar panel plan for Nenagh

Irish Water PLC has submitted a planning application for the installation of 35kW of ground-mounted solar photovoltaic panels just outside Nenagh.

Two locations for the panels have been proposed within the site of Nenagh's wastewater treatment plant on Bulfin Road. It is understood that the panels are intended to produce clean electricity in order to reduce the plant's carbon footprint. They will be elevated 1m above ground level in locations chosen to optimise the production of electricity in areas most exposed to sunlight.

Tipperary Co Council previously deemed a similar application from Irish Water as invalid. The council is to issue a decision on the current application by January 24th.
